At least 51 people were killed, more than 100 were injured and thousands were displaced, according to the national disaster management agency. The agency said 24 people died in Manggarai regency and 17 in neighbouring East Manggarai, with additional fatalities reported in Sikka, Ngada and Ende regencies.
Searchers were looking for people feared buried beneath landslides triggered by the earthquake across six regencies on Flores.
