NASA Explains Formation of Auroras on Mars
NASA's MAVEN mission reveals how Martian auroras form through interactions with solar storms.
On July 23, 2026, NASA provided an illustration showing how charged particles from solar storms interact with Mars' atmosphere. The Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) mission has studied the process by which these solar particles strip charged particles from Mars’ atmosphere, contributing to Martian atmosphere loss.
