NASA’s Curiosity Rover Finds Extensive Field of Polygons on Mars
Curiosity has observed a large area covered with polygonal surface features, a first for the mission.
NASA's Curiosity Mars rover photographed a 360-degree view of a landscape filled with polygon-shaped surface features on June 19 and 20, 2026, corresponding to the 4,930th and 4,931st Martian days (sols) of its mission. While Curiosity has detected polygonal features on Mars previously, this marks the first time the rover has found such a high concentration of them in a single location.
