The UK House of Commons’ digital, culture, media and sport select committee has announced that its 2026-27 State of Play inquiry will examine why the UK’s Eurovision entries are frequently “dismal”.
The committee identified five areas for the inquiry, according to the source report. Recent UK results cited include second place for Sam Ryder in 2022 and fifth place for Jade Ewen in 2009.
The UK came last in 2021 and 2026, second last in 2023, and finished 19th in 2025 and 18th in 2024. In four of those cases, the artist received no public votes, the report said.
