On July 22, 2026, data from the U.S.-India NISAR satellite's L-band radar was used to generate an image of Nunatak Zaterjavshijsja, a mountain peak in East Antarctica. This peak emerges through a northeast flowing ice stream leading to the ocean. The mountain's presence creates stress on the ice, resulting in pronounced fracturing of the surrounding ice surfaces, revealing a distinctive pattern noted as resembling a 'hummingbird.'
