Can public Wi-Fi be safe for banking?
Convenience and security rarely grow at the same speed.
Public Wi-Fi is attractive because it is everywhere. Airports, cafés, and hotels encourage people to connect instantly. Banking, however, introduces a different standard: convenience is no longer the only priority.
Modern encryption protects much of the data exchanged between devices and banks. Even so, fake hotspots, poorly secured networks, and careless browsing habits can expose users to unnecessary risks.
The safest approach is surprisingly simple. Use trusted networks when possible, enable two-factor authentication, and avoid performing critical transactions when the connection feels uncertain.
People often think security is a feature installed on a device. More often, it is a behavior repeated consistently.
