Eray Zat is the founder and knowledge curator of IAQ, an independent, question-driven discovery platform built around the questions that conventional guides, search results, and reference systems often overlook.
His work focuses on finding the questions hidden beneath familiar subjects. Rather than treating travel, culture, technology, economics, behavior, or everyday life as separate categories, he examines the connections between them: how systems influence decisions, how environments shape behavior, and how ordinary details reveal larger mechanisms.
Instead of publishing generic summaries or repeating widely available information, he develops question-based knowledge structures designed to help people notice what they might not otherwise think to ask.
Professional Background
Eray Zat has worked in digital publishing, search technologies, and online information systems for more than two decades. Throughout his career, he has been involved in search engine optimization, content strategy, information architecture, international trade fair marketing, tourism promotion, and knowledge-based publishing projects.
He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. Before concentrating on digital publishing and search technologies, he worked in media production and broadcasting.

IAQ — Infrequently Asked Questions — is a question-driven discovery platform created to explore the overlooked questions behind places, objects, systems, behaviors, technologies, and everyday experiences.
IAQ does not begin with categories and fill them with predictable answers. It begins with curiosity. A question may start with a street, a hotel corridor, a social habit, a search engine, a ticket price, or an ordinary object, then move through operations, economics, behavior, and psychology to reveal a connection that was not visible at first.

Research Interests

Mission
The mission behind IAQ is simple: make overlooked questions visible.
IAQ exists to move beyond predictable explanations and create paths between subjects that are usually kept apart. Its purpose is not merely to answer what people already ask, but to help them recognize the questions they had not yet thought to ask.
On Dixifuar, I had somehow ended up with two sections carrying the same title:
“Frequently Asked Questions.” ChatGPT looked at them and offered the obvious solution:
delete one.
I said, “I’m not deleting it.”
Instead, I renamed the second section “Infrequently Asked Questions.” It was empty,
so I asked ChatGPT to help me fill it with questions and answers. What had looked like
a duplicate soon became more interesting than the original. We were no longer answering
only what everyone already asked. We had begun searching for questions that rarely
occurred to people, but became difficult to ignore once they were asked.
About an hour later, ChatGPT suggested the name TravelIAQ, and I
registered the domain. There was no business plan, content calendar, or roadmap waiting
behind it. I did not even know exactly what the website was going to become.
I said we would build it the way jazz musicians improvise: listen carefully, respond
to what appears, and discover the direction while playing. That is still how IAQ grows.
Travel led to culture, culture to behavior, behavior to psychology, and every question
opened a door to another field.
In time, TravelIAQ became simply IAQ. The name grew shorter as the
idea grew larger, but the original instinct never changed: look again before deleting
what appears unnecessary.
IAQ began with a duplicate FAQ that refused to be deleted.
