Why do people feel safer when they know the rules in advance?
People fear uncertainty more than restrictions.
The rules are strict.
Nobody complains.
Because everybody knows them.
The hidden mechanism is predictability.
Humans tolerate limits surprisingly well.
What they dislike is uncertainty.
Rules create expectations.
Expectations reduce anxiety.
The future becomes easier to imagine.
Freedom matters.
But clarity often matters first.
People do not always seek fewer rules.
Sometimes they simply seek fewer surprises.
